Changeable Cork Centerpiece

When we moved into our new place in Austin we splurged on an awesome dining room table and chairs. Ahh I am obsessed! This one was much bigger/nicer/sturdier/long lasting/etc/etc than the one we had back in DC. So immediately I really wanted to get (make) a nice casual centerpiece for it that we could use year round.

If you know me and the hubs at all you know we loooove our wine, so I figured something wine themed would be appropriate, and I came up with this:

The thing I love most about this is that I can switch up the candle color and even the contents to make it festive for holidays.  For example:

St. Pats - Added a Green Candle

Christmas - Red Candle and Added Jingle Bells

Want to make one for your own home? Its super easy but I will tell you how anyway....

  • Big huge hurricane - there are tons of places you can get these but I got mine at Michaels with a 50% off coupon
  • Candle (buy either a tall or a medium height one)
  • Corks - either save them up from the wine you drink or you can buy a huge bag of them on ebay for cheap - I went the ebay route
  • Juice glass (if you bought a medium height candle)
  • Cork trivit - if you want to protect your table from the glass (I got mine at Ikea)
  1. Place candle in hurricane.
  2. If you bought a medium height candle and it doesnt come up high enough in the hurricane, place a small juice glass at the bottom of the hurricane and place the candle on top.
  3. Fill the surrounding area with corks.
  4. Yup its that easy your done!!

  1. Love your ideas. Keep them coming.....

  2. Clever! I filled a giant martini glass with old wine corks. My dog recently discovered that he can get to the wine corks and stole one to chew on. I guess that's the end of my wine cork decor unless I get a hurricane like yours.

  3. very clever!

  4. That's a wonderful idea! I have TONS of corks waiting to be upcycled. Found you through the link party. :)

  5. Fabulous idea! Thanks so much for linking up!

  6. This is a great idea. I have a flower pot FULL of corks I save from wine we drink. I am always looking for cute ideas to use them!

  7. We have so many corks, too! I've filled several large vases and apothecary jars.

I'm a new follower! Can't wait to see more fun crafts you whip up!
